Rekro Landing Page

Crafted a brand and landing page that brought in 100+ student waitlists pre-launch.

OVERVIEW

Rekro is a student platform that helps university students discover peers, join events, and build community. In this case study, I’m sharing how I designed and shipped our very first landing page — built in just 5 days to spark early interest, collect waitlist signups, and show real traction to VCs and accelerators.

ABOUT REKRO

Rekro is an early-stage startup helping international students in Australia find peers, join events, and build community — especially during the vulnerable early months of university life.

WHO IS IT FOR?

International students new to campus, looking for connection, belonging, and support — socially, practically, and emotionally.

THE PROBLEM

Rekro had no public presence, no product to showcase, and just 5 days before orientation week — the most critical window to reach students and collect proof of interest to show VCs and accelerators.

GOAL

Capture student signups during orientation.

Capture student waitlists during orientation.

Demonstrate real demand to VCs and accelerators through early traction

Demonstrate real demand to VCs and accelerators through proof of interest

Showcase the brand and idea in a way students would remember and revisit post-launch

DESIGN STRATEGY

Used real photos over illustrations to save time and build trust.

Clean layout with a clear, repeated call to action: “Join the waitlist.”

Built a brand students would recognize, remember, and return to.

LAYOUT SKETCH

Iteration #1

Iteration #1

Included a hero, key value props, Rekro’s story with a video, and supporter logos. Feedback: felt too minimal and needed a stronger human/community presence.

Iteration #2

Iteration #2

Added more student photos throughout to reflect Rekro’s community focus. Introduced a mid-page CTA banner to strengthen conversion flow.

The original logo felt too sharp. I softened the corners and explored two weights — option 2 better matched the wordmark, but option 1 was more visually appealing to the founder.

Drew light, custom illustrations in soft greens to keep the tone fun and student-friendly.

IMPACT

100+ qualified student signups within days, validating strong demand before launch

Accepted into a competitive pre-accelerator, with the landing page used as proof of traction

LEARNINGS

I picked up Framer while building this; it was fast, hands-on learning that made me good enough to quickly build my own portfolio with it too.

As a perfectionist, I had to let go of over-polishing and focus on progress — not letting “great” get in the way of “good enough to launch"
